“The Giant Meat Rice Pan” alongside Ban Pe celebrating Vietnam Teachers’ Day, November 20th
On November 20, 2024, as part of the community project ‘One million meals with meat’ at Tan Tien Primary School, Ban Pe, Lang Son, CHIN-SU collaborated with the The Mountainous Underprivileged Students Fund and professional chefs to bring a ‘giant meat rice pan.’
This special and meaningful activity aimed to support students and inspire teachers on the occasion of Vietnam Teachers’ Day, November 20.
According to records, on the day of the event, Tan Tien Primary School was filled with laughter and happiness. Alongside beautiful bouquets of wildflowers, heartfelt wishes, and simple yet warm performances by the children, the teachers and students of Ban Pe also cooked and enjoyed a ‘special meat rice pan’.
The kids excitedly rushed out to join in the making of the ‘special meat rice pan’
The children from the highlands, with their eyes sparkling with joy, gathered around the giant pans they had never seen before. They were filled with excitement and wonder as they laid eyes on the large, shiny pan for the first time.
Unable to look away during the chefs’ process of frying hundreds of chicken drumsticks, stir-frying vegetables and meat, the children’s faces radiated delight. They smiled broadly and playfully teased each other, saying, “We’ve never seen such a pan before, it’s even bigger than a table’and ‘Today, our school has more meat than at the market!’

Meanwhile, for the teachers, this is also a truly unprecedented November 20th.
Having taught at the school for many years, one teacher shared: ‘This year’s Vietnam Teachers’ Day is incredibly happy and impressive, a once-in-a-lifetime experience for us and the residents of Ban Pe living around here’.
The nutritious lunch not only brings joy and fullness to the children but also offers a sense of ‘reassurance and warmth’ to the team of over 20 staff and teachers working at Tan Tien School in Ban Pe.
The kids eagerly received their meals
Sharing with the delegation, Mr. Nguyen Van Quynh, the school principal, emotionally stated, “We feel energized with the accompaniment of the ‘CHIN-SU One Million Meals with Meat’ program”.

According to Mr. Quynh, “with this activity of cooking the special meat rice pan, the children will surely remember it forever. Today, we teachers are truly moved to see both teachers and students, along with parents, gathered together in the schoolyard, all excited”.
The teachers noted that due to the poor economic conditions and difficult transportation, in addition to focusing on their teaching responsibilities, the teachers in the highlands also take on the role of caring for the children, from their sleep to their meals.

The teachers’ hope is to ensure that the children persistently attend class every day, as the rugged mountainous terrain requires them to walk a long and arduous distance to school each day, regardless of whether it rains or shines.
The boarding meals help reduce one leg of their journey, decrease the rate of afternoon dropouts, and provide additional strength on their journey to literacy.
According to representatives from CHIN-SU, the project One Million Meals with Meat’ aims to support the nutrition of children in areas facing significant difficulties. It not only provides warm and loving meals that help the children attend school more regularly but also aims for their comprehensive development in terms of physical health, stature, and intellect on their journey toward literacy in the future.
